ELECTRONIC LEAK DETECTION (ELD®)

Our Electronic Leak Detection (ELD®) service is an essential part of RAM’s Roof Leak Detection and Building Leak Detection offerings. This method provides a non-invasive solution for identifying pinhole leaks in roof membranes with millimetre accuracy, enabling precise repairs without the need for a full roof replacement.

Unlike traditional flood testing, which can cause damage and pose risks, our ELD® technique uses the electrical pulse from a wire ring circuit to trace moisture paths to the leak. This allows us to detect even the tiniest pinhole leaks, which are often invisible to the naked eye.

Commonly known as the “wet test”, this method can be conducted with or without water, depending on the equipment used, making it suitable for flat or low-pitched roofs. The fact that roof membranes are typically non-conductive ensures that the electrical pulse will accurately locate the leak through the moisture present.

This leak detection method has been in use for some time and is environmentally friendly, avoiding the wastage of large volumes of water. It offers completely accurate results, giving clients peace of mind about the reliability and longevity of their flat roofs.

Our ELD® service is just one of our cost-effective leak investigation solutions. Whether you need to certify a new roof or check the watertightness of an existing one, our specialist engineers are equipped to help.
